About us

Optact International Ltd. is a Rigid Gas Permeable contact lens manufacturer & distributor based in Taipei, Taiwan. We have been actively providing RGP contact lenses and other specialty lenses for over 25 years.

Vision Technology Co. is a Rigid Gas Permeable contact lens lab that is affiliated with Optact International, Ltd. It is a Taiwan FDA-certified GMP lens lab and is also ISO certified by DNV corp.

Dr. Maylee Huang heads these corporations. She earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry in the United States and previously worked for Polymer Technology/Bausch & Lomb as a senior scientist in the research and development of RGP contact lens materials and solutions. In 1990, she established the first RGP lens manufacturing facility in Taiwan.

We strive to be a great asset to society. We provide cutting-edge technology to people with vision needs such as keratoconus, post-eye surgery complications, severe dry eyes, myopia, hyperopia, and presbyopia. We can slow or even stop the progression of myopia in children using orthokeratology contact lenses. We also provide advanced RGP contact lens care solutions.

Assisting practitioners in setting up ortho-k centers in their own clinics and training their employees

Providing technical support over the phone or through email

Designing special lenses for individual vision needs

Offering hands-on lens fitting workshops for any lens design, such as ortho-k contact lenses, single vision lenses, multifocals, and scleral lenses.

Company History

1990 : Introduced RGP contact lenses to Taiwan from the U.S. Vision Technology co., Ltd. was founded.

Vision Technology co., Ltd. was founded after being the first to introduce RGP contact lenses to Taiwan. As the first RGP contact lens manufacturer in Taiwan, we mainly produced aspheric RGP contact lenses at that time.

1994 : Introduced Ortho-K to Taiwan from the U.S.,  Optact International Ltd. was founded.

From Progressive Vision Technology, an American company, we introduced overnight Ortho-K contact lenses to Taiwan. Later we established Optact International Ltd., specializing in Ortho-K to reduce the progression of myopia.

1998 : Headed towards China.

Optact International Ltd. brought Ortho-K technology to China and provided our services to those with vision needs.

1999 : Dr. Maylee Huang was certified with the International Academy of Orthokeratology (IAO).

Dr. Maylee Huang, along with doctor Hseuech-Chen Yeh and doctor You-Zhu Lin, took the test in Hawaii and was honored with a certificate of Ortho-K fellowship.

2002 : Lectured at Global Symposium.

Dr. Huang was invited to give a lecture on orthokeratology at the first Global Orthokeratology Symposium in Toronto, Canada.

2004 : Promoted Ortho-K technology in Indonesia.

 Optact International Ltd. promoted Ortho-K technology to Indonesia.

2007 : Delivered a speech at Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) for the first time.

 Dr. Huang, on behalf of Optact International Ltd., was invited to attend and give a speech about Ortho-K at the Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology in Pakistan. 

2011 : Obtained Taiwan FDA approval license.

 Optact was approved by the Taiwan FDA to import night-wear orthokeratology lenses.

2012 :  Dr. Huang was again invited to give a speech at the Academy of Ophthalmology in Pakistan and helped set up an Ortho-K center there.

2013 : Optact International Ltd. introduced and promoted AVT scleral lenses in Taiwan.

We held an American large-diameter RGP scleral lenses – clinical application seminar in Taipei, Taiwan on December 13th, 2014. Keith Parker, an expert in AVT scleral lenses, was invited to give a speech at the seminar. 

2014 : Introduced Ortho-K technology to Vietnam and helped set up an Ortho-K center.

Optact International Ltd. introduced Ortho-K technology to Vietnam and helped set up Ortho-K centers there.

2017 : Obtained Taiwan FDA license.

The Taiwan FDA issued a domestic night-wear orthokeratology lens license.

2019 :  Developed Revision OK night-wear ortho-K contact lenses.

Successfully developed the new Revision OK night-wear orthokeratology contact lens, which simplifies the fitting procedure for ortho-K and improves its effects.

2020 : Developed domestic high oxygen permeable scleral lenses.

Successfully developed the Optact Naturalens, a domestic high oxygen permeable scleral lens. Obtained patent No.006965 from the Ministry of Health, which is the first FDA approval for scleral lenses in Taiwan.

Our team members have professional optometry training and have accumulated rich practical experiences in optometry. We provide fitting courses for RGP, Ortho-k, and scleral contact lenses. We also provide professional consultations.

 

The founder, Dr. Maylee Huang, is frequently invited to speak at the International Contact Lens Forums. She is a pioneer in introducing RGP and Ortho-K contact lenses and RGP manufacturing technology to Taiwan and beyond.
